Quran Ijazah Program Overview

Many serious learners reach a point where general Tajweed classes are no longer enough. They can read the Quran, they know the rules, and yet they have no formal proof that their recitation is correct — and no authority to teach it to others. The Ijazah is the answer to that gap, but it is also where many learners stall, because earning one requires a standard of accuracy that self-study and group classes rarely produce.

The Quran Ijazah Program at UAE Quran Academy is built specifically for this stage. The program is delivered through direct, one-on-one talaqqi (face-to-face transmission) — the same method by which the Quran has been passed down for over fourteen centuries. You recite to your teacher; your teacher listens, corrects, and confirms; and nothing is signed off until every letter is produced from its correct articulation point with every Tajweed rule applied consistently.

What Will You Learn in the Quran Ijazah Program?

The Quran Ijazah Program covers everything required to bring your recitation to the level of mastery an Ijazah demands — from refining the finest points of pronunciation to reciting the complete Quran to your teacher and securing your documented chain of transmission.

1. Perfecting Makharij and Sifaat (Articulation and Letter Characteristics)

Before any Ijazah is granted, your pronunciation must be exact. The program isolates and corrects every articulation point (Makharij) and every letter characteristic (Sifaat) — the subtle differences between letters that sound similar to the untrained ear but change the recitation entirely. This is where most learners discover that small habits they never noticed must be retrained, and where one-on-one correction is irreplaceable.

2. Mastering and Applying the Rules of Tajweed Fluently

Knowing the rules of Tajweed is not the same as applying them automatically while reciting at length. In the Ijazah program you move from theory to consistent, real-time application — Noon Sakinah and Tanween, the Madd lengthenings, Ghunnah, Idgham, Qalqalah, Waqf and Ibtida (stopping and starting) — applied correctly across long passages without prompting. The standard is fluency, not recall.

3. Reciting the Complete Quran to Your Teacher (Talaqqi)

The heart of any genuine Ijazah is talaqqi: reciting directly to a qualified teacher, mouth-to-mouth, so that errors are caught and corrected in the moment. You recite the entire Quran — by memory for an Ijazah in Hifz, or by reading for an Ijazah in recitation — section by section, until your teacher confirms each portion is correct.

4. Understanding the Riwayah and the Sanad

You learn the specifics of the Riwayah you are certifying in — most commonly Hafs ‘an ‘Asim — and what the Sanad actually represents: the named, unbroken chain of reciters that connects your teacher, and now you, to the Prophet ﷺ through Angel Jibril (peace be upon him). This is the difference between an Ijazah and an ordinary course certificate, and you finish the program able to explain and value what you hold.
